SUMMARY:Intermediate Floral Design Class
DESCRIPTION:Intermediate Floral Design \n\n\n\nThis course builds upon the foundation of the Introduction to Floral design course. The focus will be on the information presented in the Certified Florist (CF) Manual with the goal of preparing students to take the CF examination. Students who do not wish to take the CF exam are still welcome in this class. \n\n\n\nClass time will be divided between lecture and hands on design. A sample test will be given on each topic. Lecture topics include care and handling of flowers and plants\, product identification\, customer relations\, sales\, delivery\, marketing\, accounting\, display\, and intermediate floral design. Design topics include vase arrangements\, bridal bouquets\, corsages\, boutonnieres and sympathy. Designs will incorporate the contemporary techniques of grouping\, layering\, basing\, framing\, and many more. \n\n\n\nEach day you will take home your designs. There are 36 hours of classroom instruction. Since this is a personal enrichment course there will be no exams. Includes all flowers and supplies. Lunch is on your own each day. DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday\, October 15th\, 2024 6-9pm \n\n\n\nThe Great Lakes Floral Foundation request your presence at the 2024 Hall of Fame Induction Dinner honoring On the evening of Tuesday\, October 15th\, Jeanette (Gaudreau) Ballien and Scott Ballien\, the owners of Gaudreau the Florist LTD in Saginaw\, Michigan\, a 75 year old family business are being inducted into the Great Lakes Floral Foundation Hall of Fame. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n     Jeanette\, a past president of the GLFA and past chair of the GLFF\, has dedicated her career to promoting the floral industry and supporting fellow florists as well as the Saginaw community. Her passion for the art of floral design and her commitment to excellence have earned her a reputation as a respected leader and mentor. Scott\, a dedicated business partner and supporter\, has played a vital role in the success of Gaudreau the Florist LTD organizing and volunteering for various events and initiatives within his local and floral communities. The Great Lakes Floral Foundation was created with seed money donated by Scott’s parents.    \n\n\n\n     Together\, Jeanette and Scott have been instrumental in the growth and success of the GLFEE\, serving in various capacities\, including Expo Chair as well as chairing security\, and the silent auction committees. In addition to being an educator\, Derek is considered a “National Floral Design Champion” spending many years polishing the practice of live floral design competition. A highly sought after speaker and designer\, she shares her passion for flowers through inspirational design seminars\, product demonstrations\, and hands-on workshops around the globe.  Loann won the grand prize in the Sylvia Cup Design Competition\, represented the United States in the World Floral Competition in France\, and currently serves as Design Director for Smithers-Oasis.
