DESCRIPTION:Keeping you at the forefront of the floral industry with Professional Development! \n\n\n\nGLFA Education Center Presents\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n“Expand Your Designs with Techniques”\n\n\n\na Hands – On Workshop/Open House\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nDon’t miss this chance to learn\, network and share experience with industry peers! This event is open to all industry members. The hands-on workshop is available to the first 20 people who register. Cost to participate in the workshop is $50 for GLFA members and $80 for non-members. Everyone is welcome to watch the workshop. A light meal will be provided for all attendees  \n\n\n\nIn this hands-on workshop you’ll learn how to create profitable designs using different techniques with the same combination of flowers. Techniques shown in this class will include\, armature\, grouping\, hand tying\, pave\, and framing. You will create an armature design that you will get to take home.  \n\n\n\n /technique/ Techniques are used to create a floral design composition; they are the skill sets required to complete an artistic work. \n\n\n\n6:00 – 6:30 (workshop check in\, networking\, shopping) \n\n\n\n6:30 – 7:30 (workshop\, shopping) \n\n\n\n7:30 – 8:00 (networking\, shopping\, wrap up) \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nCOST: $50.00 member $80.00 non-member (All attendees are welcome to watch the workshop)Class enrollment is limited to 20REGISTRATION FEES ARE NON – REFUNDABLE! \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Instructor: Robbin Yelverton AAF\, AIFD\, CF\, PFCI is a retail floral shop owner as well as a professional floral designer/educator with 30+ years in the floriculture industry. His wide experience as educator\, designer\, commentator\, and shop owner is evident in his informative and exciting presentations. Robbin holds a Master’s of Science degree in Ornamental Horticulture and has taught Horticulture\, Floral Designs and Interior Plant Maintenance at the secondary and college level. As an award-winning designer\, Robbin has presented educational programs before the American Institute of Floral Designers National Symposium\, regional and state floral associations as well as wholesale and retail audiences. He is a former Mississippi\, Michigan and National Alliance of Floral Associations Designer of the Year. Robbin also served on the floral design teams for the presidential inaugurations of Presidents Bush and Clinton. A former classroom instructor\, Robbin’s southern influenced style\, sense of humor and down to earth stage presence makes for an entertaining and educational program. His expertise in the sales\, marketing and design of wedding\, sympathy\, holiday and everyday designs provide a diverse range of presentation subjects. As Co-Owner and Vice President of Blumz… by JRDesigns Floral & Event Professionals\, a well-respected and award-winning floral business in metro Detroit\, Michigan\, Robbin actively uses the social medias of Facebook\, Twitter\, Pinterest and blogging to market his own floral businesses and can provide helpful insight into their uses for the professional floral shop owner. As an editorial contributor to local news media\, floral blogs and industry magazines\, Robbin is a frequent source for “in-the-trenches” floral businesses information. He is known for “telling it like it is” from the standpoint of a business owner and survivor of the economic downturn. A versatile designer as well as a seasoned educator\, Robbin provides a necessary balance in design and business. In 2008 he launched his own business\, Floral Underground. Derek is a captivating speaker who specializes in “today’s consumer” connecting and engaging them through different types of media including demonstrations\, subscription services and hands-on workshops with both plants and flowers. In addition to being an educator\, Derek is considered a “National Floral Design Champion” spending many years polishing the practice of live floral design competition.
